The Mount Washington Auto Road – about 70 miles from A Fireside Inn & SuitesOn top of Mt. Washington

Kancamagus Highway  It’s worth the trip from A Fireside Inn & Suites.  A 34-mile paved road through the heart of the White Mountains. The Kancamagus Highway climbs from Lincoln, elevation 811 feet, to an altitude of 2,855 feet in its first 10 miles. Then it slowly descends the remaining 18 miles through a variety of outstanding scenery. The two-lane highway is paved and has numerous turnouts, and traffic can be heavy depending upon the season.  There are beautiful views of mountains and tall cliffs.  Kancamagus Highway is considered one of the best highways in the United States from which to view fall foliage.

The total distance from A Fireside Inn & Suites across the Kancamagus Highway and back the resort is about 130 miles but due to the wildly beautiful scenery and the extremely interesting attractions along the way, you should plan on a whole day.

Directions:
Drive from A Fireside Inn & Suites to Conway, NH to the eastern end of the Kancamagus Highway (about 45 miles).

To return to A Fireside Inn & Suites from the western end of the highway, take 93 to Exit 23 then back to A Fireside Inn & Suites (about 50 miles).
