There are many hiking trails in the Lakes Region around the Fireside Inn & Suites. Trails both large and small, short and long, tough or easy; with terrain to test seasoned and beginning hikers alike.


Mount Major Trail is only a few minutes from the Fireside Inn & Suites. The trail head is off Route 11 in Alton Bay.  The hike offers spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee.  There are several trails on Mount Major.

Lockes Hills Trail – Gilford

Mount Percival and Mount Morgan – Holderness

Red Hill Trail – Center Harbor

Red Hill Trail Belknap Mountain – Gilford

Try-Me Trail – Gilford.  This trail ascends Mount Rowe from the Gunstock Mountain Ski Resort parking area.
